Jack Rowland
Jack Rowland transforms the familiar Australian landscape into hyper-real paintings of an unfamiliar, dreamlike, almost alien environment. By combining a realist style of technical oil painting, with otherworldly, saturated colours, Rowland revitalizes the genre of landscape painting and offers an alternative way of viewing the natural world.
Since graduating in 2009 with a B.F.A. from RMIT, Roland has been the subject of three solo exhibitions at Anna Pappas. In 2013, Rowland completed a residency in Berlin with Takt; culminating in the group exhibitions Naturlich!, Kunstraum at Tapir and Above From Below at The Cellar Gallery. Roland was a finalist in the 2016 Bayside Acquisitive Art Prize and in 2009 received the Tolarno Art Prize.
