Carolyn Fels’ new series of paintings Continuum combines elliptical forms and linear markings immersed in a muted palette. Fels engages with the formal aesthetics of Modern Abstraction, but there is no rigidity to the geometry of her paintings. Drawing inspiration from the natural world Fels creates fields of effortless movement and variation. Her fluid shapes float, shudder and sweep across the canvas inspiring a wistful meditation in their eternal repetition.
